Ascaso has developed two versions of their coffee and espresso grinder, one with a flat grinding wheel system and one with a conical (cone shaped) grinding wheel. The Ascaso I-1 Coffee Grinder features a 54 mm flat grinding wheel for ultra precise grinding of coffee beans. The wheels turn at 700 RPM for quiet, low static operation. Made of tempered steel, the blades offer extremely long life and they are replaceable. The grinding wheels are mounted on a heavy-duty platform made of brass, which weighs in at nearly 5 pounds itself. The platform insures that the wheels spin in perfect balance and with virtually no vibration. We recommend the flat grinding wheels if you will be grinding mainly for espresso. The Ascaso grinders are the only grinders currently available that have a Micrometric Regulation System (MRS) to control the quality and consistency of the grinds. This system allows for unmatched, precise adjustments to the grind setting, which is critical for espresso grinding. You can grind coffee for drip, French press, Turkish, and espresso.
